Ok, I am beyond angry!

Warning, this will be rant session. I imagine it won't be pretty! As those of you who read my blog now, about 2 weeks ago, I took my toddler into the ER to have a bead removed from her nose. see my post from January 11. Now, mind you, I was in the hospital for 1 hour, tops! I spent a total of 5 minutes with the doctor from start to finish. I don't mind paying for services, but I got the bill yesterday, for the doctor, nothing else. It was 590 dollars! Just to clarify, five hundrend and ninety dollars! For 5 minutes of his time! Can I just say, something needs to be done about healthcare in america when it costs almost 600 dollars for a doctor to spend 5 minutes with my child. I am scared to see what the ER bill will be like. Heaven forbid you get sick or anything, you certainly can't afford to. Where are our governments priorities? Healthcare, education, etc should be our number 1 priorities. I have no problem paying taxes, when I see something to show for it. But, when we are taxed to death,(sales, income, property, excise, etc) yet have nothing to show for it, that is just plain and simple BS! Here is another crazy one! My 2 oldest children are in elementary school. They go to the same school, obviously. Well, starting next fall, they want to send grades k-2 to one elementary and grades 3-6 to another one. So, I will have 2 children in elementary school going to different schools. The best part, I live close to both schools, therefore no bus service, so I will be making drives to 2 different schools twice a day for kids who should be in the same schools! No, I am not a teacher but this makes no sense to me. I can't see the point in dividing the grades. I can see sending some kids to another school if one is over crowded but I can't see the point in dividing the grades. And, it is only these 2 schools in the city, none of the other schools. Ok, am done for now, might rant more later, who knows? lol

Different Day, Same Life

Not too much to say today. The kids are off of school for Martin Luther King's birthday. I think that spending the day in school learning about him would be more advantagous, but that is just my humble opinion. I am trying to fight off a cold. The kind that you feel coming on, the bit of a scratchy throat, occasional sneeze, etc. Hoping to fight it off. Had a long talk with hubby yesterday. Once I decide if anything good came of it, I will let you know. It was a weird talk, to say the least, so I am trying to figure it out. lol I am taking the kids roller-skating today with a friend of mine and her kids. It has been years since I roller skated but she says she is going to so I will too. Should be funny, 2 hijabis who haven't skated since, ah, ...... never mind! lol Will let you know what happens later on. Hope everyone has a great week.

Don't you love toddlers?

Well, most people I know spend their friday nights relaxing, watching movies, going shopping. Not me. Why? Because I have a 2 year old. So, I spent last Friday night in the ER. Why? Let me tell you. She decided that it would be fun to shove a bead up her nose. Not just a little bit so that I might be able to get ahold of it, but way up as far as she could so I would have no choice but to take her to the ER. The doctor laughed, reassuring me that this kind of thing happened all of the time. For some reason, while I appreciated the effort, his words didn't make me feel any better. But, she promised him that she wouldn't do this ever again. I hope and pray that it is true. lol You have to laugh when kids are this age, you must, or you will just completely lose your mind. I remember spending 4 hours looking for a set of keys that my oldest had put inside a flower vase when she was about 1 1/2. Thank God for duplicates! I remember my son loved going out to dinner when he was a toddler, he was "in awe" of a restaurant. We went to red lobster once and for the next year, he kept asking to go to the red monster! lol Someone should right a book entitled funny things my child said/did as a toddler. I am sure it would be a best seller. Doing the research alone would be hilarious. Back to other things, hubby is now wanting to stay for awhile longer at his job. To say that we have been arguing about would be the understatement of the year. But, as I have no idea who actually reads my little blog, I will try and watch my language. Will add more to this story at another day. Happy Eid to all my muslim brothers and sisters.

2006 has arrived!

Happy New Year to all. Hope this year is better than the previous one. My hope is to see peace and harmony in all the world. May sound like alot to ask at this point, but I am hopeful. Would like to see more patience, more tolerance, more compassion, less violence, less hate, less judgement of others. More kindness. More love. For all. I am not that old but sometimes I feel the world has changed so much in the short time I have been on it. I find myself saying things like, I remember when....people used to hold doors open for anyone, neighbors were friends also, kids were respectful to ALL adults, parents took resposibility for their own kids, people would shovel their neighbors sidewalks just for the sake of doing it, would stop and help someone whose car was stuck in the snow, when people watched their language in public, when kids got into fights, they made up the next day. Seems like a long list but I haven't even scratched the surface. My, how things have changed, but I am still hopeful.
