Thoughts on Iraq

Well, elections are coming, so far, anyway. Yet, what kind of election is it going to be? Sunni's are threatening to boycott elections, security is a joke, and people are being threatened with be killed, having their homes destroyed, etc. if they participate in the election. A democracy is supposed to be for the people, by the people. Now, if anyone boycotts an election, to me that is the same as people here not voting. You can't really say alot if you don't participate in the process. But, what of those people who really want to vote and are afraid? That is not fair to anyone. Innocent Iraqis are being kidnapped, killed, etc. They have every right to fear repercussions for voting. I just don't see how this election is going to represent the people of Iraq when so many are afraid to vote. Just read some of the Iraqi blogs and you will see. I absolutely feel the Iraqi's need to elect their own government, I just hope that everyone who wants to vote is able to without any problems.
Change of subject, I spoke to dh last night, I will know Monday, with about 95% certainty if dh is staying for another year or not. They are having a big meeting, changing some things around, etc. It really depends on what happens in that meeting if he stays or not. We'll just have to wait and see. Allah Kareem. Oh, even greater news, my 16 month old now knows the correct usage of the word NO!! lol Isn't that wonderful?
