Counting the days!

Well, 2 weeks till hubby gets home. The kids are so excited. I just pray for his safe return from Iraq. I got to talk to him today. His cell phone is actually working. The towers keep getting messed up by sabotage so it is has been very hard to get ahold of him. Been having to wait for him to call me! This was a nice change. My 13 month old is walking now, Mashallah. Trying to get into everything. Dh can't wait to see her, she couldn't even sit up yet when he left. He is so excited to see her. My son, he is a character. My dh asked him, what would you like me to bring you from Iraq? He, of course, says he wants a game for his nintendo. Dh says that they don't have anything like that in Iraq right now. What does my son respond with? In a very sarcastic voice, he says, well, what in the hell do they have in Iraq? I didn't know whether to bust out laughing or correct him. 5 year olds, what characters.

Another Friday

Well, the end of the first week of school. Well, partial week anyway as they didn't start until Wednesday. But, so far, so good. The kids seem to be enjoying it. Very humid here today. Typical for northern Indiana. But, I must say, this summer has been very mild compared to years past. Just got into a big discussion with my 7 year old. She has this habit of lying, I don't know what to do with her sometimes. Wants to argue about everything. Give her an inch and she takes a mile. If you are nice to her about something she wants, it ends up being not good enough for her and she doesn't appreciate it. I am so frustrated with her! I am going to have to do something about her. She has been doing this since her dad has been gone. I am sure that has alot to do with it but I can't let that be an excuse. It will get out of control if I do. Allahu Alim

School is back in session!!!!!!

Well, today is the second day of school!! YEAH! I need a break from my 2 older kids. My son got into all day kindergarten, so that makes things a lot easier. My daughter is in second. Now, all I have to deal with is a 13 month old! I think that is actually easier than the older 2. She doesn't argue with anyone yet! Just gets into everything. Oh, well, not like I haven't dealt with that before. I seem to have alot more patience with this little one compared to the other 2 at that age. Maybe chalk it up to experience, or the fact that I am older, or maybe that I am no longer so obsessed with how clean my house is, etc. Either way, I am enjoying this time with my kids. They are excited to be back at school, I am defintely excited for them! LOL

My trip to Chicago

Well, made it to Chicago. spent way too much money, but that is ok and normal for me anyway. Had lunch at a wonderful Iranian restaurant, Noon O Kabab. Best kabob and dill rice ever. Yum. Traffic was a bit nuttier than usual, had a big water and air show going on, that and tons and tons of construction. Nice place to visit, wouldn't want to live/drive there! Had a nice time, needed a change of pace. Now, I am just trying to find room in my house for all the things that I bought. I went into this one Arab meat store, and when I had finished my purchases, the owner had his son carry my bags to my car for me. now, this may not seem like a big deal, but I had parked 2 1/2 city blocks down due to lack of parking. I explained to him that is was no problem for me to carry my bags, told him I had parked quite a ways from here, he insisted. That was so nice! Now, I am extremely tired from my long drive, time to sleep!

Typical day

Well, I finally cleaned out some of the weeds in my yard. They were beginning to take over. Made the kids help me, which they hated but, oh, well. They have been bad all week. I can't wait till their dad gets home. I am certainly tired of being a single parent. I don't know how people do it. Inshallah, my friend and I are making a run to Chicago, getting some groceries, meat, etc. My sister was nice enough to volunteer to watch the kids, Thank God. I don't think I could handle that long of a drive with 3 children asking me, when are we going to get there? lol It will be nice to have a break from them for a bit. Besides, they love spending time with their aunt. works out for both of us.

Things that happen to be on my mind

Salam Alaikum
One thing I have been angry about lately, the constant onslaught of disparaging remarks about Muslims. I am so angry with al-qaeda and the wahabi type people that I could just scream sometimes. Why? not just because they have killed thousands of inoccent people, but because they give Muslims such a bad name. Islam is not an evil religion but you would never know that by watching the news. The media is so biased, it is unbelievable. I just wish that journalists, newscasters, etc. would just think before they speak. they take the actions of one and condem millions of others in the process. What to do?

My very first entry!

Salam Alaikum to all. this is my very first post, as I just created this blog about 5 minutes ago. Don't expect to much yet. I am really not much of a writer, just thought this would be interesting place to vent, share some interesting or not so interesting things about my life. we will have to see what happens.
